	Locktronics KS2&3 kit Ref: 250-931 This is based around the 4 x 4 matrix board LK50 and contains all the components for students to investigate basic electrical circuits and electromagnetism. Topics covered are Conductors and Insulators; Circuits; Switches and fuses; Heat and Magnetism; Symbols; Varying flow; Series and Parallel; Patterns of Current; Patterns of Voltage; Electrical sensors; Relays. The kit comes complete with connecting links (8) lamp holders and lamps (3) and a selection of resistors switches motor relay thermistor photocell buzzer reed switch fuse carrier and insulated wire. A full photocopiable pack of worksheets is included. The Locktronics system consists of electronic components mounted underneath tough moulded polystyrene carriers with the appropriate circuit symbol on the top surface. Circuits are assembled by inserting these carriers between metal baseboard pillars which act as connectors. The special self-cleaning plated phosphor bronze springs on the carriers ensure excellent electrical contact and as no wires or other forms of connection are used the final uncluttered layout looks very like the circuit diagram. Components can be removed and changed easily without disturbing the whole circuit. A student needs a base board with a selection of components which can either be purchased separately or in the form of kits which cater for different levels and topic areas.
